The CAPstone of Your Education |
 |
The CIMBA Advantage Program (CAP) provides a balanced education to students through a hands-on, exciting learning environment. While also beginning their classes, students participate in most of the CAP activities during the first two weeks of the program. The Cross-Cultural Awareness seminars are scheduled throughout the semester. The following activities are included in the CAP and required of all semester program students.
Requirements:
Cross-Cultural Awareness Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Workshop Da Vinci Challenge Personal Development Program Coaching and Development Overview
Cross-Cultural Awareness
All students enroll in a one-credit culture class as part of the semester program. The European Cultural Studies course provides an overview of European culture. Seminar topics range from cross-cultural comparisons to European dining etiquette. Students will gain tools to operate better in a global environment whether it is as a tourist or working with a diverse group of people. They will learn to appreciate the varied cultures in Europe, particularly of their host country.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Workshop
Through CIMBA’s partnership with Kepner-Tregoe, Inc students will learn proven problem-solving and decision-making skills. Kepner-Tregoe is an international consulting company whose client list includes over half of the companies on the Fortune 100 list. Students will learn K-T’s method of rational thought processes in order to enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills. The workshops are approximately one and one-half days in length and taught by K-T trained instructors.
Da Vinci Challenge
Students will put their newly enhanced problem-solving skills to the test during the Da Vinci Challenge. This half-day exercise uses a low-ropes course to put theory into practice. Students work in teams to solve problems and accomplish tasks as they meet and get to know each other early on in the program. The events are facilitated by professionals with expertise in communication in teams and organizations.
Personal Development Program
One consistent belief about the impact of studying abroad is that students learn more about themselves than they ever thought possible. CIMBA takes that learning to a higher level through it’s partnership with Rapport Leadership International (RLI). Students participate in a two and one-half days of intense, interactive and challenging workshops designed to push students to higher levels of performance. The program is facilitated by RLI’s certified trainers. Students will examine their own personal characteristics, learn how to interact with people who have different strengths and weaknesses, learn how to be a leader, and learn how to focus on improving their own weaknesses. Students will receive a certificate from RLI at the end of these sessions.
Coaching & Development Overview
The Coaching and Development Overview seminar is designed to acquaint students with the concept of professional coaching and the role it can play in personal development.
