LEAP to New Heights! |
 |
The LEAP (Learn, Enrich, Achieve and Perform) program that CIMBA offers is a great way for students to enhance their personal growth and development while abroad. Students choosing to complete this program will complete the CAP but also put extra effort forward in personal and professional skill development. The rewards and outcomes will be well worth the effort. They will develop a higher level of cross-cultural aptitude and enhance their problem-solving and decision-making skills. The most effected growth area however, will be in personal development. Students participating in the LEAP program will develop their communication skills further and work with coaches on their personal and professional goals. Finally, because of their specialized training and experiences, LEAP students’ resumes will be published in a resume book distributed to Rapport Leadership International and Kepner-Tregoe's client companies that offer internships and jobs.
Requirements in Addition to CAP:
Coaching Sessions K-T Certificate Workshops Career Development Skills Cross-Cultural Aptitude
Coaching Sessions
After being introduced to coaching in the CAP, LEAP students will participate in small group and one-on-one leadership coaching sessions with certified coaches and coaches in training. Coaches will help students develop a plan to implement their personal career strategy. They will guide students in developing their personal and professional goals and assist them in taking the first steps toward achieving those goals. Working with a coach helps students reach their full potential both personally and professionally.
K-T Certificate Workshops
Students will further hone their problem-solving and decision-making skills through extra K-T workshops. These additional sessions take the skills learned in the CAP to the next level. Students that complete the additional K-T training will receive a certificate from Kepner-Tregoe confirming their knowledge and ability to use K-T’s consulting method. Along with the process knowledge gained, this certificate is a terrific addition for a resume.
Career-Development Skills
In preparation for obtaining a potential job or internship through Kepner-Tregoe or Rapport Leadership International’s clients, students will go through a series of workshops designed to help them polish their job hunting skills. Students will learn nuances of cover letter and resume writing. Opportunities to perfect these documents with feedback will be provided. Students will also participate in mock interviews. These sessions provide feedback to students to help them polish their interviewing skills. Additionally, students will participate the “Careers In…” lecture series offered every semester. Professionals in various fields talk to interested students about career opportunities in different professions and how they can use the degree they are about to earn.
Cross-Cultural Aptitude
In addition to the CAP requirements of a 1 or 3 credit European Business and Culture course, LEAP students also have the opportunity to participate in Aggiungi un Posto a Tavola. Translated it means “add a seat to the table.” Students will be partnered with local Italian families and spend an evening with them learning about Italian culture first hand. |
