Places to Stay

Printable Page
Many travelers find hostels as a good source of cheap lodging. All hostels are different, ranging from dorm-style rooms to private accommodations. Some hostels even provide meals. Typically, young student travelers stay at hostels and are almost certain to meet other people from around the world. When searching for hostels, read reviews and look the location up on a map. Hostelling International U.S.A. is a membership organization that provides access to more than 4,000 safe and clean hostels around the world. Membership costs are reasonable, and can be purchased at STA travel stores or on the HI-USA Web site. The Web site contains information regarding membership benefits, hostel reservations, and travel links.

There are other budget living arrangements. One that saves time and money is sleeping on trains during overnight trips. Its simple to upgrade to a sleeper car on the train. Students have also stayed in small bed & breakfasts or one-star hotels, called pensioni in Italian. Your budget travel book is an excellent resource for more information about places to stay.
