The business world is much different today from even a generation ago. The Internet allows for worldwide interaction between people who never would have communicated previously. This opens up a world of possibilities for businesses and presents challenges such as interacting in different languages and with people of different cultures. Learning about these differences first-hand is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences a student can have. As the global economy grows, so does the need for employees who are competent in the international arena. Due to the fact that less than one percent of American students study abroad, those who choose an international experience are rewarded with tremendous professional opportunities.

Additionally, an international experience is life changing. Students learn about themselves and the world, while absorbing the nuances of different cultures. Some students have a desire to live abroad while others realize the value, but prefer to stay home. There is no right or wrong answer to personal exploration and development. Everyone is different and it is through life experiences that people learn who they really are and challenge themselves to improve.

CIMBA strives for a completely integrated learning environment for all programs based on its basic beliefs and educational philosophy.  In accordance with these beliefs, CIMBA structures the learning environment so students have the opportunity to excel academically and optimize the out-of-classroom learning experiences.  These opportunities come through a variety of events such as cultural lectures and guest speakers. 

Additionally, CIMBA has established two corporate partnerships to enhance the learning environment for students.  Kepner-Tregoe is a consulting company used widely by multi-national organizations for its depth of problem-solving and decision-making practices.  Training in K-T’s methods is offered to students in most programs.  CIMBA’s partnership with Rapport Leadership International provides leadership-training opportunities to students participating in semester programs.  This training is used by companies all over the world and will increase the students’ marketability when job hunting.  Both programs can result in certificates from the companies. Opportunities vary by program so please consult specific program literature about exactly what is offered to students during that time-period.
